Images from here and here.

I am loving printed silk and just realized my obsession after a glance through the images on my desktop. The first image is from Reece Solomon’s (of Reece Hudson) New York pad. It’s such an elegant, cool way of incorporating tie dye into your home. Not to mention, you could totally DIY it. So chic!

We are defining (or shall I say redefining) who the Marais Girl is. The initial part of this process was to answer questions about her. Some of them I expected and had a very clear and immediate answer for (how old is she, what does she do for a living, where does she shop?), and others were very specific and a bit trickier to nail down. My method for finding these answers was to start collecting visual references from books, blogs, old scrap books, and anywhere I could find bits and pieces I felt conveyed a part of who the Marais Girl is. I collected a few hundred images and then edited them down until they visually described the Marais Girl.

A few paintings of Helen Frankenthaler’s made it into the final selection. Each one is so effortlessly beautiful, which is an aspect of her work she has been criticized for. But to me all of her work is highly emotional and complex. It is art you’d want in your home; makes you happy; energizes you; and is interesting to look at for years and years. And that is the art the Marais Girl dreams about adding to her collection. If she could choose a piece (hell yes!)?

You may have heard that after 5 years in Brooklyn, we are moving to the city. We’re excited to be in a new neighborhood (NoHo), a new space, and arguably most importantly enjoy having access to a smorgasbord of new lunch spots! As much as we love Calexico carne asada burritos (Williamsburg’s staple), I think everyone in our design studio would agree that more options for delivery will be intensely fascinating and exciting to explore! We are finalizing our plans for the interior and looking at inspiring spaces . . .

The teepee may or may not survive the editing process:) Stay tuned for sneek peeks as we settle in and finish the new digs.

Really enjoying this collection of antique ceramic bull dogs, and the rest of the assortment in today’s One King’s Lane sale by John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon. They have a great shop in Brooklyn, and their listings on 1st Dibbs have the most charming and hilarious titles. Love these guys!

This adorable brass caddy unfortunately does not come with a claw footed bathtub, but it can be yours for the very tender price of $35.

Philip Lim calls this amazing space his office, second home, and the closest he will ever get to La Dolce Vita. He’s got works of art from the likes of Claude Lalanne and Robert Longo, a beautiful library for inspiration (above), and even a closet in his office behind a trap door.

You may have noticed that we Marais Girls enjoy accessories our homes about as much as we love doing so with our ensembles. Lately, I’ve been hunting for transferware for the kitchen and black + white modern prints for the many empty frames I have lying around. But I am very excited about my latest find which will be on my bedroom door tonight.
